Voly needed help with its AWS simplification initiatives for their current AWS infrastructure by clearing up unwanted AWS services and increase the flexibility, security, reliability and cost transparency for their web applications, and no Document repository or internal intranet for sharing with vendors

Voly could not auto-scale during their pick times, and the website often went down, costing them unwanted customer experiences. 

Voly.co.uk would also like to discover a wider range of AWS services features, including API Gateway, EC2, RDS, Load-balancing, and Flexible S3 auto-archiving features. 

In addition, Voly would utilise a set of automations for events of monitoring such as cloud trials and SQS/ SNS when problems have occurred 

Secure / with No Single Point of Failure

Our Solution

CloudiQS’s first phase was to create a new secure VPC with related networking components, including a three-tier networking layer that is public-private and restricted.

Created a SharePoint Farm with FrontEnd and Backend SharePoint apps for hosting intranet sites and accounting documentation for sharing with vendors / third parties. 

Placed securely behind a multi-node load balancer and a multi-availability zone database for the application
back end. The website can withstand multiple server failures without downtime. As with any public-facing service, security is a key aspect to consider.

Migrated some dependency applications from on-premise systems integrated into the main website, consisting of multiple back-end web servers.
CloudiQS also introduced least-privileged security controls for the developers and their remote engineers, allowing them to access what they require and any resources, and enabling multi-factor authentication as a requirement.

With AWS, the company also realizes greater infrastructure agility, flexibility, elasticity, global availability, and significant annual cost savings.

• AWS Organisations, Created a single consolidated billing for both accounts Dev and Prod (to review the rest of the accounts)
• Dev / Prod Environments,  linked with the VPC peering for some  shared application services  
• Amazon RDS, Backend that spreads across multiple availability zones for high availability.
• Lambda / API Gateway, allowing the systems to integrate with third parties.
• AWS Elastic Beanstalk, for managed Amazon EC2 Auto Scaling Group, spread across 2 Availability Zones for scalability and maximum fault tolerance.
• AWS Transfer, a new SFTP to transfer files directly into and out of Amazon S3 using SFTP for the depended legacy systems 
• Amazon ELB to balance traffic across the instances.
• Amazon S3 object storage for static files.
• Amazon CloudFront, related for edge caching, reduces the overall load on the system by caching where appropriate.
• AWS CloudTrail, to monitor the IAM actions taking place on the account
• EC2 Instances, for sharepoint farm including backend MSQL.
